Ice House Lofts

Home to one of Tucson’s ice manufacturing plants until it closed permanently in 2002, the Ice House Lofts are 51 distinctive residences located in the 1923 Arizona Ice and Cold Storage Company building. The design preserves the authentic industrial character of the existing building’s exterior shell while simultaneously infusing it with new life in the provision of 48 modern residential units. An additional three units are provided in the form of a new triangular-shaped building along with a pool house and a storage building for tenants.

DWC House

This modern house in the Catalina Mountain foothills responds to topography, program and views to create a residence that is deceptively simple in plan yet layered with experience in sequence and section.

20 East Congress

The re-purposing of the late 19th century “Annex Building” slices the middle third out of a solid concrete facade added in the early 1960’s to create a dramatic entry and presence on Congress Street. A new steel and glass entry canopy provides welcoming access for the retail use on the ground floor with office use on the upper two floors and basement. Inside, all levels are opened up to each other with a four story monumental stair and light shaft that provides access and natural light to all floors.

Congress Mixed Use

The historic Trading Post is opened up and stripped back to its structural core to maximize connection and view to the street. Historically-inspired awnings and panels shade both the older structure as well as the New Mixed Use structure to define a passive approach to heat gain and energy-efficiency. Generous shaded glazing is appropriately placed for upper floor residential units while the lower floor commercial space is pulled back to express the concrete podium construction and better position glass away from direct sunlight.

Indigo Modern

Located in the center of Tucson, this 22 unit town loft project defines community living with proximity to shopping, restaurants and the nearby University. Built on the former site of a mobile home park on one side of Third Street and over a dilapidated duplex on the other side, Indigo Modern re-builds an important infill location with energy efficient design that makes efficient use of indoor and outdoor space.

990 Office

990 East Seventeenth represents the re-adaptation of an existing repair shop building into 4,292 square feet of modern professional office building. Taking advantage of the efficient and open structure a unique office space is created to serve design-oriented users.
